Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her stage moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. Her first EP, Pho on October 21 2016, was released by Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in notoriety. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she released additional music on the internet including Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole had her send her songs to the Dreamville Team in the following year as he wanted Rihanna to collaborate with her on some references. The news was released on December 8, she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that she recorded with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she was able to guest feature on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was then followed by a short video in September. On the 9th of November, she released two additional singles, 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two singles more were released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole on her Creed II sound track on November 16. The music video premiered 20 February 2019 in order to go along with the track. Within one period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
